Online collaboration and project management service helps architects work across three continents
"CDs or drawings were getting lost in the post or taking days to arrive," recalls IT manager, Gareth Sewell.
"Equally, errors and omissions would occur, as design changes made along the way were not always passed on during the development process." PRP already had successful experience with Autodesk Architectural Desktop (ADT), Autodesk VIZ and 3D studio max and decided that the Buzzsaw online collaboration service would ideally meet its needs.
"Buzzsaw is simple to use and offers us a straightforward way for project managers and team members to check on the overall status of a project, or of individual tasks, at any time," Sewell confirms.
"This real-time monitoring is done via online dashboards, activity logs and automatic notifications." PRP was also impressed with how Buzzsaw allows the user to decide how they wish to organise their information, as there is no fixed file format.
"You are not tied into a complex system dictated by the product but can use your own folder structure," he says.
On a typical project, Buzzsaw will be accessed by as many as 15 different parties - including the client, the site office, engineers and estimators - and for PRP the key benefits are that data can be published quickly and it is possible to track who has seen the information.
For PRP, the investment has undoubtedly been worthwhile.
"The savings made on project administration time, postage and couriers alone means that Buzzsaw has already paid for itself several times over," Sewell confirms.
"However, by ensuring that everyone always has immediate access to the most up-to-date drawings, errors are minimised and project times greatly reduced.
As a result, clients are getting - and recognising - a significant improvement in the service we provide".
"Using Buzzsaw is second nature to us now - rather like using email or a mobile phone," he concludes. Request a free brochure from Autodesk ...
"In fact, I'd be lost if I went anywhere else that didn't use it.".
