Imass customer uses 3D design software to model fleet of subsea vessels
With the help of Imass CADLogic and Autodesk, Technip Offshore UK (Technip) is testing the power of Autodesk Inventor Series to work with huge datasets of around 4,600 unique files Technip, based in Aberdeen, provides subsea engineering and construction services, assets and products to the offshore oil and gas industry and is using the 3D manufacturing design software to model its pipelay vessels and other equipment installed on the seabed

Design to manufacturing process accelerated
Manufacturing software to accelerate and simplify design to manufacturing process and includes Autodesk Inventor 11 3D mechanical design software.
According to Bill Ross, Technip drawing office supervisor: "Inventor is coping well." He adds that without Inventor it would be a lot less efficient, and definitely more costly, to model these exceptionally large assemblies in a commercially viable way.
Ross and Technip drawing office manager, Alistair Stephen explain that they have been working closely with both Autodesk reseller partner Imass CADLogic - and Autodesk itself - to get the best out of their software and hardware when modelling these vessels and their vast range of subsea equipment.
"We recognise that we are pushing the boundaries, but Imass CADLogic has always been very responsive and we are also working directly with Autodesk product developers in the US, mainly to ensure our hardware can handle the sheer volume of data produced," says Stephen.
