An ACM Waste Management Plc product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 25, 2005

Sunday 5 June 2005 is World Environment Day and ACM Waste Management Plc is encouraging businesses to get behind the campaign.

Sunday 5 June 2005 is World Environment Day (a United Nations campaign, which runs all over the world encouraging individuals and businesses to take steps to protect the environment) and ACM Waste Management Plc is encouraging businesses to get behind the campaign.

The Environment Agency is promoting World Environment Day in the UK and has produced a list of suggested pledges that can make a difference.

ACM has contacted all its customers and contacts to encourage them to visit the Environment Agency's website at www.defra.gov.uk for more information about how to make their businesses more environmentally friendly.

ACM has also come up with a few suggested pledges of its own - all of which are already in place at its Enfield head office.

* Recycle all office white paper.

* Use email and electronic communication where possible.

* Don't overfill the kettle.

* Only print out hard copies when required.

* Switch off all office equipment and lights when not in use.

* Segregate and recycle all glass, cans and plastic.

* All literature is printed on environmentally friendly, biodegradable paper.

ACM is one of the country's leading providers of complete waste management solutions and is committed to helping its customers protect the environment through responsible waste management and recycling.

ACM chairman, Barry Bolton, said: "Averting the looming crisis of global climate change is one of the biggest challenges that mankind has ever faced but by making small changes to daily routines everyone can help to benefit the planet.

Those of us in the environmental services industries have a duty to provide alternatives and to ensure that sound environmental practices such as compaction, recycling and efficient energy use are the norm rather than the exception." Waste compaction and recycling can significantly reduce carbon emissions by reducing vehicle movements and energy consumption.

Recycling materials such as glass, which is infinitely recyclable, can help to stop the depletion of the earth's natural resources through manufacturing using raw materials.
