Rugged computer for vehicle mounting
Advantech has launched the PPC-V106 for the industrial vehicle computing market.
The PPC-V106 is a rugged computer designed for applications in depots, warehouses, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing floors, docks, distribution centres, shipyards, and lumberyards, etc It can be mounted in trucks, forklifts, trailers, tractors or cranes, for material handling, real-time information transmission, and inventory management The PPC-V106 is shockproof for rotating drive applications

Advantech's Vehicle PC series is designed to be used in both wireless and wide area networks with expansion capabilities for 802.11b/g, GPS, GSM or GPRS.
In addition to the software available for Windows 98, 2000 and XP, PPC-V106 also supports embedded OS like WinCE.NET, WinXP Embedded or Linux, making the task of application integration easier.
Advantech's channel partner Cyber World Creations has already successfully introduced PPC-V106 in Hong Kong terminal docks, where it is mounted in a gantry crane to help manage container traffic.
