Fast boot and virus freedom for
e-platform

Advantech XP Embedded Ready Platform is a ready-to-run ePlatform, with a robust and stable system that does not require 3rd party anti-virus software for protection.

Virus protection and fast boot-up times are hot topics when using Windows products, especially Windows XP, 2000 and NT 4 With the explosion of the Internet and proliferation of viruses, no system administrator can afford to take chances with an unprotected system

Embedded devices use only the most essential H/W and S/W to perform specific dedicated tasks.

Because Windows XP Embedded is a componentized form of Windows XP professional, it is very stable and robust, ideal for customers who are trying to balance their specific needs of reliability with protection and stability.

Advantech XP Embedded Ready Platform is a ready-to-run ePlatform pre-loaded with Windows XP Embedded.

It is a robust and stable system that does not require 3rd party anti-virus software for protection.

We provide an anti-virus feature by integrating the Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) of Windows XP Embedded.

The EWF can be used to protect a volume from write access, thereby eliminating the threat of viruses.

EWF write-protects one or more partitions on your system, has password protection, and is able to be turned on and off when installing new software.

With Advantech's XP Embedded Ready ePlatform your device partition will be write-protected, safe, and secure; no virus can affect your system.

Starting the operating system quickly is another requirement customers consider when choosing Windows solutions.

Windows devices can sometimes take a long time to boot-up and if customers want to boot-up faster, 3rd party software may be required, which can complicate the maintenance and administration of a system.

With Advantech's XP Embedded Ready Platforms you can leverage our Advantech HORM (Hibernate Once Resume Many) utility, a component developed by Microsoft in Windows XP Embedded SP2.

Advantech HORM allows the user to define a hibernated state that quickly wakes up the system without having to perform a full OS boot.

EWF works hand-in-hand with HORM to maintain a valid hibernation file.

The combination ensures that the device boots "faster" from a constant known hibernated state.

The life cycle for Microsoft Windows 95 ended on December 31, 2004, and Windows 98 on January 16 2005; it is time to migrate to Windows XP Embedded.

Advantech already provides a list of Windows XP Embedded ready platforms for easy migrating to Windows XP Embedded.

To encourage migration to XP Embedded, Advantech Software team is providing a "free consulting service" during the period between 2005/01/01~2005/06/30. Request a free brochure from Advantech (UK) ...
