Partner of the Year for Advantech

Advantech continues to lead the field by introducing Smart Home Networking Platforms for home residences and Vehicle-Mounted Computing Platforms for industrial vehicles.

Advantech, the global ePlatform Service Provider dedicated to embedded technology, continues to lead the field by introducing Smart Home Networking Platforms for home residences and Vehicle-Mounted Computing Platforms for industrial vehicles Advantech, whose achievements have been noted by Microsoft, is delighted to have been awarded Microsoft Windows Embedded "Partner of the Year" in the "Independent Hardware Vendor" (IHV) category for Asia

This award is the third Advantech has received from Microsoft.

In 2001, Advantech was "Partner of the Year" in the same category, and in 2002, Advantech was "Partner of the Year" in the System Integrator category.

"Advantech and Microsoft co-developed various general embedded computing platforms that can be utilized in Smart Home Networking, eHealthcare Services, and Vehicle-Mounted Computing," said Jeff Chen, CTO of Advantech.

It is essential to be able to develop smart applications that reach the market fast.

Using Advantech's OS image application software "CE.

Builder 4.2", customers can quickly build-in extra features into their embedded OS, for example, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, and Windows Media Player 9, the same versions used in mainstream PCs, can easily be incorporated.

With MPEG-1, MPEG-4 and MP3, Windows Media Player 9 supports streaming video and enhanced compression ratios, for universal compatibility and playback.

Advantech also launches the Vehicle Mounted Computer.

Another embedded computing platform design featuring an anti-vibration aluminum enclosure, fan-less design, waterproof housing, and flexible expansion for wireless applications that range from transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing, to depots, real-time stock updates for warehouses, docks, and distribution centers.

Advantech's Vehicle Mounted Computer is used in forklift vehicles at Hong Kong's docks to help container management.

On October 19, Advantech introduced its latest Windows CE 5.0 XScale SOM Design-in Kit at the Microsoft and ARM Solutions Show 2004 in Munich.
