Facade maintenance made easier and safer
When it comes to facade preservation, the advice from Sheffield-based working at height specialist, The Access Group is straightforward: work with the experts.
When it comes to facade preservation, the advice from Sheffield-based working at height specialist, The Access Group is straightforward: work with the experts.
"In order for today's sophisticated building facades to look and perform at their best, it is essential they are inspected, cleaned and, if necessary, repaired on a regular basis," says Access Group managing director, Stuart Cameron.
"Our Facade Access division specialises in the design and installation of suspended and fixed access systems, which enable high-level maintenance activities to be undertaken safely and efficiently".
Split into two categories, namely permanent and personal suspension access systems, the systems designed, installed and operated by The Access Group meet all relevant European and British Standards along with the newly introduced Work at Height Regulations (WAHR).
Designed to meet a huge range of different demands, the company's facade access systems include everything from building maintenance units with hoisting heights of up to 400m and jib reaches of up to 35m for particularly high-rise buildings, through to travelling gantry systems that are manufactured in either steel or aluminium and are used internally and externally for access to glazed atria and other forms of rooflight.
"If you look at any city centre, the variety of buildings is phenomenal and, as a result, the challenge of providing access to undertake facade preservation is greater than ever before," continues Stuart.
"In order to meet such challenges, whether presented by straightforward high-rise buildings, facades located beneath projections such as soffits or 'brise soleil' shading, or smaller buildings with isolated facade areas, it is imperative that a specialist company is called in at the earliest opportunity to design access systems that meet the maintenance requirements of a building's facades.
"All too often architects leave this essential area of building design until it is far too late, making it difficult to carry out future facade maintenance works".
