The Access Group has assembled a specification team to advise architects and designers on work-at-height best practice during the design stage of any new building.

The Access Group has responded to the new Work at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR) by assembling a specification team to advise architects and designers on best practice during the design stage of any new building The team, which specialises in the design of facade access and fall protection systems for post-construction maintenance activities, is headed up by Access Group managing director, Stuart Cameron, specification manager, Karl Greenfield and technical system designer, Zdenek Vavrda

"The Work at Height Regulations have placed renewed focus upon the need to ensure buildings are equipped with sufficient levels of equipment to meet the needs of ongoing maintenance activity," says Stuart Cameron.

"Our specification team has been assembled principally to work with architects and other designers to ensure this requirement is achieved.

"When you take into consideration the sheer scale of development currently transforming city centres throughout the UK and the number of new buildings that require facade access and fall protection systems as a result, then the need - and potential - for the specification team is easy to see.

"By providing a specialist team with the ability to advise on the most suitable solutions for each and every building, we are able to ensure the specification of systems that are safe, cost-effective and fully compliant with the relevant regulations".

Respected throughout the industry for its RIBA-accredited CPD seminars, The Access Group's position as a working-at-height specialist and industry educator means the company is in the novel position of providing expert installation and relevant legislative advice.

"Our busy CPD seminar programme serves the dual purpose of ensuring we are fully 'au fait' with the ins and outs of every piece of current and proposed legislation, while also giving us the opportunity to demonstrate our knowledge and expertise to potential clients in a face-to-face situation," continues Stuart.

"With the Work at Height Regulations already affecting industry practice and proposed changes to the CDM regulations likely to alter it even more, now is the time for architects and designers to ensure they ask the experts when it comes to safe, appropriate and compliant systems for safe work at height".
