Avery Dennison Fastener Division has Launched its new System 1000 brand ID fasteners, which increase brand visibility and recognition, resulting in a reduced risk of counterfeiting.

Avery Dennison Fastener Division has Launched its new System 1000 brand ID fasteners, for which benefits include increased brand visibility and recognition, resulting in a reduced risk of counterfeiting.

The Fastener Division of Avery Dennison's Retail Information Services has developed what is described as a unique new solution to enhance product branding and combat the manufacturing of counterfeit goods.

The first of their kind in the world, Avery Dennison System 1000 brand identification fasteners not only securely attach price tickets, brand tickets and product information to garments and a wide range of other retail products, but also serve as labels in their own right, displaying the brand name or logo on the plastic tag itself.

"Brand owners and retailers want to differentiate their product and leverage their brand, whilst preventing the ever-present problem of product counterfeiting," said Mike Back, marketing manager, EMA, Avery Dennison fastener division.

"Avery Dennison System 1000 brand identification fasteners help meet all of these needs".

"The fasteners place brands or names in a highly visible position and as a result, they are distinctive in appearance and can be used to identify genuine merchandise".

"Additionally, the branded fasteners are only supplied to pre-agreed authorised personnel, further increasing the security of the product".

"One of our customers, a well-known sportswear manufacturer, has begun to use the System 1000 fasteners as a means of authenticating football shirts".

"Shirts without the distinctive fasteners are readily identifiable as counterfeits".

"The brand identification fasteners may be slightly more expensive than traditional fasteners, but when you think that saving just one authentic shirt from counterfeiting pays for brand identification fasteners to be used in over 800 shirts, the potential return on investment is highly significant".

The brand identification fasteners are made of polypropylene and feature an expanded paddle area, of 15 x 9mm (three times the size of standard paddle fasteners), enabling brand names and logos to be screen-printed directly onto the fastener.

Using the Pantone Matching System (PMS) allows Avery Dennison to mould the fasteners in the exact colour required for each brand.

Logos, brand and retail names can then be screen-printed on top in one or two colours, creating a high-quality image on the fastener.

Unlike standard injection-moulded fasteners, which usually come in 50- or 100-fastener clips, Avery Dennison System 1000 brand identification fasteners are supplied to customers in rolls containing 1000 printed fasteners.

This facilitates greater fastening productivity with fewer interruptions and less downtime for reloading.

Avery Dennison System 1000 brand identification fasteners are available now from local Avery Dennison Fastener offices and can be applied to products using a variety of System 1000 tools including a portable handheld tool, or semi-automatic bench-mount or table-mount systems actuated by a foot pedal or finger switch.
