With 2006 boasting both the most successful year of trading as well as best figures for on-time delivery since the UK arm of the company was originally established as Huck Fasteners in 1985, Wayne Lill materials manager at AFS, said: "We were spending up to GBP 14,000 a year on third party storage which is not only costly but inefficient in terms of stock retrieval and monitoring".
"The new system supplied and installed by Teccon; in a three phase development to ensure day-today running of the factory was not interrupted; now provides us with 160 more pallet space and wider isles for forklift truck operation and access." He added: "In the long run, on-site storage of both the product we manufacture and the goods supplied to us from our US plant in Texas, enables us to respond quicker to customer orders and improve yet again on lead times.
In addition, and as part of our commitment to recycling and environmental management, the redundant racking has been utilized by a neighbouring electrical and maintenance services contractor.".
