Eastern Europe demand for fasteners grows
Growing demand for fasteners in eastern Europe is exampled by Slovakian distributor, IMP Kontakt, which represents the UK fastener systems manufacturer, Alcoa Fastening Systems.
IMP Kontakt, a Slovakian distributor for Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS), has recorded a dramatic sales increase, which emphasises the growing demand for a UK maker's products in eastern Europe.
AFS' 'Recoil' product line is used to repair damaged threads or produce new strong screw threads for many applications in the automotive, engineering, maintenance and repair.
The brothers Miroslav and Ivor Petra established IMP Kontakt in 1997 in Bratislavia.
The company said that opportunities are also opening up in the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Commenting on IMP's development, managing director Miroslav Petras said: "My brother and I started our business trading from a converted bedroom with not much money but a lot of engineering experience, energy and enthusiasm.
Within a year we moved to a new office where we now have thirteen employees.
Recoil was IMP's first product line back in 1997 and our belief in its quality, ease of use and the numerous solutions provided to customers has contributed to our success.
Recoil sales now account for 10% of IMP's turnover." Recoil product manager at AFS, Piero Bruno, commented: "IMP's outstanding achievement is reflected in their recent sales figures, a potential we recognised in 2005 when they were presented with the award for fastest growing European Recoil distributor.
The AFS distributor support package combined with their passion, technical knowledge and understanding in applying Recoil solutions to industry will guarantee IMP a successful future and continue to open up opportunities for AFS in Eastern Europe." * About AFS - makers of Recoil brand products - Alcoa Fastening Systems makes easy-to-install threaded inserts, taps and installation tools.
Recoil threaded inserts are rolled from high quality stainless steel wire.
The product has a diamond shaped cross section, wound to the shape of a spring thread.
When the wire is wound into a helical coil and installed into a tapped hole, it provides a permanent and wear resistant thread that is generally stronger than the original.
Alcoa Fastening Systems is part of Alcoa, the world's leading producer of primary aluminium, fabricated aluminium and alumina, of which Huck fasteners, Camloc, Recoil, Keensert, Marson, Simmonds and SNEP are branded products.
