ISO/EN 8655 (parts 1-6) passed their final International vote on 4th June 2002.

New International Calibration Standard for Volumetric Apparatus ISO/EN 8655 (parts 1-6) passed their final International vote on 4th June 2002 Expected to be published as full standards late in 2002 they will provide the first true international standard for calibration of Piston Operated Volumetric Apparatus (POVA)

Current European National Standards (BS6018, BS7532, DIN 12 650) will in time be withdrawn and replaced by EN 8655.

The standard which has been approximately 5 years in preparation is a very complete and workable one and the six parts are made up as follows;- Part 1 Terminology, general requirements and user recommendations.

Part 2 Piston pipettes Part 3 Piston burettes Part 4 Dilutors Part 5 Dispenser Part 6 Gravimetric test methods Alpha Laboratories have been working as part of the relevant committees, are well advanced in preparation for the standard and already provide market leading calibration software capable of working to this and all existing equivalent standards.

Alpha also provide consultancy to those working to conform and some of the first products manufactured and calibrated to the requirements of the standard.
