Stretchwrapper Pays For Itself At Envelope Firm
When Chapman Envelopes reviewed its company's stretch wrapping equipment, he found that one of the machines was over 15 years old, beginning to show signs of age and was becoming problematic.
When Chapman Envelopes purchasing manager, Mark Gwilt reviewed his company's stretch wrapping equipment, he found that one of the machines was over 15 years old, beginning to show signs of age and was becoming problematic.
So, when he looked for a replacement machine to improve the stretch wrapping operation, he set very stringent criteria to reduce film consumption by up to 50 per cent, maintain or improve on current load strength, whilst at the same time making enough of a cost saving to pay for the equipment installation.
Chapman invited a number of machinery companies, including Aetna, to tender for the project.
Although all of the companies offered similar prices, Aetna immediately stood apart from the competition by arranging to install a demonstration model of the Rotoplat 506 stretchwrapper.
It was important to Chapman Envelopes that the new machine would be compatible and also prove its ability to use less film without jeopardising the load security.
The Rotoplat 506 was an immediate success and Chapman was also pleased to find that apart from fulfilling all his original objectives, there was an added bonus in the form of a multi program option for different pallet types and heights, which was not present on his old machine, said Aetna.
Chapman commented: "The Aetna Rotoplat 506 has given us an aesthetically better looking pallet, whilst reducing our film usage by 50%.
We are confident that we have not lessened the load strength in reducing the film usage, in fact each pallet is more secure, due to the better quality of wrapping.".
