Shrink-wrapping machinery specialist, Aetna UK, has completed the design and installation of a new Dimac Star fully automatic shrinkwrapping line.

The line produces print registered multipacks at the Nottingham factory of Contractpack4U.

Criteria for the new line was stringent and challenging, with flexibility and value for money being paramount.

The machine had to be capable of producing trayed or trayless print registered multi-packs in a variety of pack configurations, at a throughput rate of around 30 units a minute.

It also had to handle a broad range of products including cans, bottles jars and tetra packs, whilst at the same time producing finished packs, which matched the high standards demanded by Contractpack4U.

Three companies were approached and Aetna won the contract when it ws able to successfully demonstrate that the Dimac Star was flexible enough to match the criteria, at a cost that suited the budget.

The shrinkwrapping machinery, is said to combine high quality modular construction with process control and internet connectivity.

Easy to clean and maintain, it provides complete operator access to the cutting knife.

Adjustments can be made to the machine settings and product sizes without the need for tools and there are no vacuum belts for film sheet transfer, said Aetna.

Contractpack4U's managing director Simon Constance said: "Although the original tender was for the machine only, Aetna helped us design and install the full line and integrate it with an existing facility for optimum efficiency.

We are very pleased with both the line and the service received from Aetna UK.

From the first meeting they interpreted our requirements in a way that made the whole process from design through to commissioning, as painless as possible and the technical support has been first rate.

We are now able to offer our customers a high quality print registered multi-packing service at competitive rates." Contractpack4U said the line is now fully operational and producing an excellent finished pack in a variety of containers and pack formats at the throughput speeds required.

In addition the company also received a welcome added bonus when it discovered the machine could also run smaller packs in twin lane, which doubles throughput, making it even better value for money, added the company.
