Ringtons Teas decided to replace their 15 year old turntable stretch wrapper in the goods-out section with a new model and also purchase a mobile battery-operated stretch-wrapping machine

When Ringtons Teas reviewed their pallet wrapping operation they decided to replace their 15 year old turntable stretch wrapper in the goods-out section with a new model and in addition also purchase a mobile battery-operated stretch-wrapping machine for the tea collating section.

Pallets of collated tea sacks were not being properly secured before despatch, and to achieve secure wrapping, they had to transport the pallets through the warehouse to a fixed machine for wrapping, which greatly increased operating time.

Ringtons were seeking a machinery supplier whose products offered versatility, quality, value for money and after sales service of the highest standard.

They found those qualities in Aetna UK.

The parameters for the new Robot machine were strict.

It had to be of robust construction and capable of wrapping 20 pallets a day whilst operating in a small confined area.

Once started, it could wrap the pallets without operator assistance, and then be portable enough to be moved out of the way once wrapping was complete.

Aetna's mobile Robot was ideal for the job and the Jolly turntable system completed the package.

Paul Hindmarch, Rington's Project Engineer explained why they had chosen Aetna.

"Several companies tendered, but Aetna was the only one who was prepared to carry out extensive machine trials".

"Although slightly more expensive, Aetna's Robot was popular with our operators".

"It is also far more robust than the others, which is a key feature given its working environment".

"The Robot is simple to operate and we can now wrap pallets in an area of the warehouse where previously we couldn't place a fixed machine".

Ringtons say that the Robot eliminated the need to transport pallets to the fixed machine in a different area of the facility, thus reducing handling time and costs.

Staff can also move it away and then continue with other tasks, which again saves time.

Added Paul Hindmarch, "Since installing the Robot there have been zero maintenance costs to date, which is an additional benefit we hadn't originally considered".

"Overall Ringtons have been very happy with both the machines and the care and after-sales provided by Aetna UK".
