Orbital tube cutter produces weld-ready finish

An Axxair product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Mar 16, 2004

Orbital tube cutting machine guarantees in a few seconds a perpendicular cut of 0.25mm max and a limited burr, and the as-cut tube can be used for orbital welding.

Axxair is based in the Rhone-Alpes region in France.

The company is specialized in the manufacturing of orbital tube cutting and welding machines.

Leader in the orbital cutting field in several countries, Axxair innovates in the orbital welding field.

Export Sales represent 65% of the turnover, all over the world and mainly in Germany, Sweden, Great Britain, Italy, USA, Mexico, Japan, Korea, China and Australia.

The global concept was born: CC + SASL-150, orbital cutting and welding with one machine - the only one of its type in the world.

AXXAIR offers the largest range worldwide of cutting machines using a saw blade.

The CC range is made up with 9 machines: CC80; CC120; CC170; CC220; CC320; CC420; CC520; CC620; CC720.

To cut from 5 to 782mm.

What is the orbital cutting? The motorized saw blade first penetrates the thickness of the tube and then turns around the tube to cut it.

This concept guarantees in a few seconds a perpendicular cut of 0.25mm max and a limited burr.

The TIG orbital welding or manual TIG can be carried out directly after the cut.

The SASL-150 power supply, combined with the CC range, offers a perfect response to all your prefab tube processing applications.

This system is perfectly adapted for on site jobs as well as in the shop floor for pharmaceutical, food processing, biotechnology and aerospace applications.

It can weld applications such as tube-tube, tube-elbow, tube-flange, tube-reduction, tube vane, etc It covers all diameters from AE15 to AE620 mm on wall thickness from 0,5 up to 2,5 mm.

The SASL-150 is a multifunctional power supply using the TIG or GTAW process.

It is the basis for creating different applications around orbital fusion welding or with wire feed.

You can combine the SASL-150 with a cooling unit with simple fittings for high welding duty cycles where a cooled torch is requested.

You can also add a wire feeder for single pass welding on thin tubes or for the root pass on thicker tubes.

The SASL-150 is completely controlled through a microprocessor and is therefore programmable.

The welds can therefore meet or even exceed the specifications of industries.

Our welding equipments are particularly adapted for stainless steel but also Titanium, Hastelloy, Inconel.

The tube qualities that are ideal for that process are grouped under SMS, DIN, Imperial and metric norms.

Axxair is always trying to innovate in his field which has helped the company to expand quickly.

Other factors to note are a high quality manufacturing capacities, a dynamic Research and Development department and a worldwide distribution thanks to a network of resellers.
