Baan UK appoints managing director
Former IBM and Hewlett-Packard senior executive is to help build on UK sales success and continue Baan's drive to become the leading provider of industrial software solutions and services.
Former IBM and Hewlett-Packard senior executive is to help build on UK sales success and continue Baan's drive to become the leading provider of solutions and services to the Industrial Enterprises marketplace.
The appointment follows recent Invensys strategic review announcement that positioned Baan as key unit within new Invensys Production Management division.
Baan - the global provider of B2B collaborative commerce solutions and part of Invensys plc - has appointed Gavin Dodd as its new Managing Director in the UK.
Gavin Dodd will focus on continuing to grow Baan's sales success in the important UK sector by driving the deployment of the iBaan suite of knowledge-driven, Internet-enabled solutions to UK manufacturing, logistics, sales and services organisations.
This appointment will further strengthen the Baan UK management team and will help the company to achieve its goal of becoming the leading provider of solutions and services to the Industrial Enterprises marketplace.
Gavin Dodd previously held the position of UK Sales and Marketing Director for Baan UK and managed the Baan UK sales team, developing business from the indirect channel.
He originally joined Baan UK from EMC, where he helped establish the company's New and E-Business' division and was responsible for recruiting the sales team, instigating marketing programs, and sales and pre-sales management.
Before EMC, Gavin Dodd worked at Silicon Graphics for two years and ran the manufacturing group and the channel business.
Previously, he was a sales manager for IBM's midrange and UNIX systems and worked for Hewlett-Packard for seven years in a range of sales management, new business and major account roles.
Commenting on Gavin Dodd's appointment, Erik Seppenwoolde, President of Baan EMEA said: "The UK business is an important part of the global Baan operations and with recent customers including DARA, Ellis and Everard and Hi-Lex, the UK continues to make a strong contribution towards our corporate growth.
As confirmed in the recent announcement following Invensys plc's strategic review, Baan is a core component of the Invensys go-forward strategy.
This strong position, together with Gavin's leadership, will enable UK organisations - with the help of Baan's solutions - to continue to drive their enterprise performance strategies through enhanced customer intimacy, operational excellence and product leadership." Gavin Dodd added: "As part of the new Invensys Production Management division, I look forward to the challenge of leading Baan UK forwards to maximise our potential across all key vertical sectors - electronics, automotive, aerospace and defence, and industrial machinery and equipment.
As part of this new strategy, we will also focus on extending our services portfolio and activity, and will support this move with plans to increase the consulting force by almost 50 per cent.
This will provide our customers with demonstrable, value-added services and solutions based on our leading iBaan suite to help them maximise ongoing Return on Investment." More information will be given at inForum - the event for business leadership - to be held on 17-19 April in Rome, Italy.
