Baan appoints alliances and marketing
director

Baan has appointed John Roberts as its new Alliances and Marketing Director in the UK he will be responsible for continued development of Baan's business via alliances with five consultancies.

Baan has appointed John Roberts as its new Alliances and Marketing Director in the UK John Roberts will be responsible for continued development of Baan's business through alliances with the big five consultancies, and will drive the UK marketing strategy to support Baan's go-to-market initiatives to help achieve its goal of becoming the number one provider of solutions and services to the Industrial Enterprises marketplace in the UK

He will report directly to Gavin Dodd, Baan's recently appointed UK Managing Director.

John Roberts joins Baan from CGEY where he spent three years in a new business and outsourcing high-value sales role.

Before that, he worked at IBM for three years in a sales role for the automotive group.

John Roberts has also worked for Digital Equipment for eight years as the European Account Manager for Ford.

He has also spent ten years with the Hoskyns Group in manufacturing sales.

Gavin Dodd, Baan UK's Managing Director commented: "John Roberts brings a powerful blend of marketing and alliance development skills to his new role, which will make a major difference to Baan in the UK.

He will be responsible for extending our alliances with the big five corporations and for developing key value propositions including customer intimacy, operational excellence and product leadership to provide Baan with world-class solutions in the market.

The UK continues to be a key market for Baan's global operations and John's appointment provides us with an opportunity to broaden our sales generation by further aligning our iBaan knowledge-driven solutions with specific expertise from alliances.

John will also back-up and support this new strategy through a new UK marketing campaign to penetrate the key vertical markets through the alliances channel-to-market." This appointment follows the recent announcement that as part of Invensys plc's strategic review, Baan is a core component of the Invensys go-forward strategy and will be a major unit in the new Invensys Production Management division.
