UK manufacturing fall comes as a
surprise
Commenting on the UK's ONS Manufacturing (Index of Production) figures published today, Barclays, said the fall came as a surprise, considering recent growth in output.
Commenting on the ONS Manufacturing (Index of Production) figures published today, Andy Martin, National Director of Manufacturing at Barclays, said: "This month-on-month fall is a surprise given the growth in output over the past four months" "Firms have clearly continued to struggle to pass on the current high raw materials costs to their customers, a situation that many believe to be unsustainable as supply catches up with demand over the cycle"
