Latest 36-page Baldor catalogue details hundreds of DC and AC motors, drives, spares and service - supported by large and comprehensive local stockholdings.
The motors are equally suitable for use in chemical processing and manufacturing plants, as well as for outdoor applications - especially in hostile environments involving corrosive agents such as salt spray.
Baldor's stainless steel SSE motors operate from standard 50 Hz three-phase supplies and are available initially in IEC D80, 90, 100 and 112 frame sizes, spanning a power range from 0.37 to 4 kW - with higher power versions following.
Motors with ratings up to 0.75 kW employ TENV (totally enclosed, non-ventilated) housings, while higher output models use TEFC (totally enclosed, fan-cooled) enclosures.
Users can choose from different mounting options to suit the application.
Premium electrical materials have been used throughout the SSE motor range, to ensure very high operating efficiencies.
As a result, all motors exceed 'EFF1' levels with efficiencies as high as 89.9 percent for the higher power ratings - providing users with significant energy savings in applications involving extended or continuous motor operation.
SSE motors additionally employ specialised construction and design techniques to maximise performance and reliability in hostile environments.
A key feature of the external construction is a welded and lip-sealed conduit box.
In combination with a unique hydrophobic aspiration system, this ensures that moisture cannot build up and short-circuit the electrical connections (it also eliminates the need for a drain plug and the mounting issues that this imposes).
All external surfaces - including the casing, mounting feet and flanges, cable conduit box and drive shaft - are constructed from stainless steel, making them virtually impervious to corrosion.
And labyrinth seals are used at either end of the drive shaft to prevent the ingress of moisture, and help protect the motor bearings by rotating and expelling contaminants.
Equal attention has been paid to internal construction.
A prime feature is encapsulation of the windings using Baldor's advanced new E3 process (effusion epoxy encapsulation).
This provides additional protection against moisture whether from ingress or condensation.
The stator windings employ special inverter spike resistant (ISR) magnet wire to maximise reliability and thermal performance, which is especially advantageous when the motors are used with variable frequency inverter drives.
The motors can also be supplied with stainless steel gearboxes, and in custom versions to suit specific applications. Request a free brochure from Baldor UK ...
