Lasers offered at under $155 for precise sensing
Retroreflective laser sensors, at less than $155.00, feature an extremely small, tightly collimated 4mm laser sensing beam for precise sensing at ranges up to 18m.

With its micro-based electronics and push-button programming, the S18U sets up in seconds.
Additionally, each S18U's ultrasonic beam is individually adjusted at the factory to reduce the effects of transducer variation resulting in high repeatable accuracy and very predictable switchpoints," said Mike Dean, Product Director for Banner's Measurement and Inspection Products.
Designed for high accuracy at programmable ranges from 30mm (1.2in) up to 300mm (12in), the S18U provides reliable sensing of opaque or translucent objects and is not affected by color involving clear web detection or shiny object detection.

Sensors beam through dusty/mist-laden environments
High-power sensors provide maximum excess gain (burn-through) for accurate reliable sensing in applications with heavy fog, dust and industrial process contamination.
Laser sensors detect small objects reliably
Laser sensors feature a mechanically adjustable sensing cutoff point that allows them to reliably detect extremely small objects with relatively low reflectivity such as verifying punched holes.
Low cost safety light curtain is easy to use
Rugged, compact non-contact, point-of-operation, safety light curtain sets new standard for ease of use and low cost and also features plenty of power with a range up to 18m.
Another significant feature of the S18U is programmable background suppression that allows for detection of an object within a distinct sensing field while ignoring objects beyond the far set point.
User defined programming of the sensor's analog or discrete outputs (dependant on model) offers the ultimate flexibility for adapting the sensor to the widest variety of unique sensing applications.
A unique temperature compensation feature allows the sensor to self-correct for speed of sound changes due to temperature shifts in the sensing environment while maintaining the highest sensing accuracy.
Available in a straight or right-angle housing, the compact 18mm barrel design offers a multitude of versatile mounting options.
"With its small size and highly visible LEDs, the S18U is an excellent choice for applications such as bottling or small container liquid level control where accurate sensing is required and available space is limited," Dean added.
Constructed of durable ABS plastic with a completely sealed, leakproof design rated IEC IP67 and NEMA 6P, the tough and tiny sensors tolerate vibration, mechanical shock and washdown.
Internal circuitry guards against false pulse on power-up, continuous overload, and short circuit of outputs.
Pricing begins at $179.00 for discrete models and $229.00 for analog models.
Another sensing alternative is the Banner M-Gage Magnetic Sensor.
This new patented technology offers a unique vehicle detection method by detecting the presence of the metal in a vehicle's construction.
Users can choose from a wide range or brackets or directly embed the unit in the concrete of the car wash floor.
"The M-Gage's inherent rugged design will outlast mechanical type treadles and inductive loops.
The unique design and operating characteristics provide for quick replacement if needed, even in an embedded application" said Springer.
Banner Engineering is the world's leading manufacturer of photoelectric and ultrasonic sensors, fiber optic assemblies, electronic machine guarding systems, and precision measurement systems.
