By eliminating mechanical transmission arrangements a rotary stage operates in silence and also helps to minimise unit size, so reducing space requirements.

The new direct drive rotary stage from Bayside is claimed to be quieter than any conventionally driven alternative and is ideal for precision automation applications When paired with the company's compact i-Drive, point-to-point servo drive, the package provides a very effective rotary motion solution

By eliminating mechanical transmission arrangements, Bayside's rotary stage operates in silence contributing to an improved working environment.

In addition, the direct drive feature also helps to minimise unit size reducing space requirements.

Performance characteristics include zero backlash and, based solely on the unit's integral optical encoder, repeatability within +/-2 encoder counts with resolutions ranging to 0.5 arc seconds.

It also has built-in limit switches.

The stage's direct drive is based upon a common-shaft mounted dc servo motor that provides up to 200 rpm with significant torque capability.

The CAN-BUS compatible i-Drive, which is available in power ratings from 0.5 to 3kW, has a user friendly front panel with LCD display and six function/programming push-buttons for entering all control, system and motor parameters, set point and error flags.
