Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team May 7, 2008

Beckwood has developed a 10,000kN multi-ram hydraulic press for forming tank heads and features joystick controls for operating the drawing, clamping, and bed cushion rams.

Beckwood Press Company, based in St Louis, Missouri, USA, has developed a hydraulic tank head multi-ram forming press.

The Tank Head Forming Press can be customised for a wide range of specifications, including tonnage, bed size, speed and stroke.

The press is equipped with independently controlled clamp and draw rams and features a customer specified bed cushion.

The bed cushion has a dynamic cushion control, which includes independent travel zones, utilising a recipe function on a PLC interface.

Beckwood recently delivered a 10,000kN (1000 tonf) Hydraulic Tank Head Forming Press.

In addition to the draw ram, the press is equipped with a 1700kN (170 tonf) capacity clamp ram and a 70in x 70inm (1.8 x 1.8m) bed.

They feature bolsters with holes precision machined on centre.

The four-column press features a 2000kN (200 tonf) capacity, 24in (600mm) stroke bed cushion for added precision.

It uses heavy duty tie-rod construction and features a 37in (940mm) stroke.

Joystick controls operate the drawing, clamping, and bed cushion rams.
