Polypropylene storage silo with load cells
Braby has successfully completed a contract to supply The Craemer Group of Germany with a silo system for the storage of Polypropylene.
The food group is based in Warwick, but thanks to the success of its famous 'Football Chicken Balti' pies, needed a new factory - and choose to build it nearby in Leamington Spa.
Braby's sales and marketing director, Paul Mayer explains: "Shire Foods had an existing factory based at Warwick, but had to move to expand, so we developed a 'turnkey storage solution' for the new site.
We installed a 40 tonne aluminium flour silo and a new flour handling system to transport material from the silo and into the factory, where it is transferred into a new 150kg receiving vessel.

Silos accurately weigh PP for injection moulding
A silo system for the storage of polypropylene - for injection moulding waste bins - has been equipped with a specially designed load cells system for accurate weighing.
We also upgraded an existing system, and it now handles 30 per cent more product per hour than it did previously." The silo and system package provided by Braby has been designed to the latest standards, and means that the Shire Foods Leamington Spa factory conforms to the latest ATEX requirements.
ATEX, which came into effect on July 1st 2003, imposes legal and technical requirements on all electrical and mechanical equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
In the case of Shire Foods, their storage and transfer system had to be suitably designed to handle flour - a potentially hazardous product.
Without ATEX certification, production facilities are operated outside current legislative requirements and cannot feature the European Commission's CE mark for compliance with European directives.
Michael Tzirki, managing director at Shire Foods said: "We chose Braby because of the quality of their product and the fact they were able to deliver to the time scale we requested.
Braby also guided us through our legislation concerns - making the whole process of procurement a lot easier." * About Braby - Braby is the UK's leading manufacturer of aluminium and stainless steel silos, tanks and fabrications, their ISO9001 certificate gives their customers peace of mind that they are dealing with a company which offers a high-quality service, from design and planning through manufacture and transportation to installation and maintenance.
