Non-commutated linear servo drew large interest
A live demonstration of the latest linear actuator system generated considerable interest at the recent Drives and Controls show held at the NEC Birmingham.
The ultra thin module is fully tested and supplied as a packaged unit with sealed rotor and mating connector.
It is ideal for installation where there are tight packaging constraints.
NCAPS technology features true, 360 degree, absolute position feedback at speeds up to 18,000 rpm.
Using the phase shift principle, it is not sensitive to power supply voltage fluctuations.
As the sensor has only one moving (electrically passive) part it can be mounted directly on to the input shaft.
Its sealed design makes it particularly suitable for environments where particle contamination and high humidity would cause optical based sensors to lose reliability.
Three standard output formats are available, analogue, PWM (pulse width modulation) and dual triangle, which provide users with a choice of flexible electrical interfaces for different applications.
Sensors are supplied pre-programmed with the preferred option and other custom outputs are available to special order.
The Ultra Thin NCAPS sensor is part of BEI's extensive range of non-contacting sensors that also include optical encoders and Hall effect sensors.
All provide reliable and accurate position sensing for a wide range of applications.
