Condensate management system yields
energy savings
A flexible, energy-efficient compressed air and condensate management system, installed at a fish processing plant, is yielding energy savings worth around GBP 2,800/year.
Beko Technologies distributor BRE has provided Edinburgh based fish processor R C Croan and Sons with a flexible, energy-efficient compressed air and condensate management system, yielding energy savings worth around GBP 2,800 pa Three Beko Drypoint membrane dryers handle moist air produced by two Atlas Copco compressors; a Bekomat unit automatically drains the condensate from the compressor system, then feeds it to an Owamat oil/water separator, ready for discharge to a suitable watercourse

BRE's solution to the company's condensate problem recognised that the 10 process rooms do not all have the same requirements.
Only three require air at minus dew point while the remaining seven can operate at +2deg or +3deg above dew point.
Instead of providing a conventional single-sized compressor with desiccant dryer on a 'one size fits all' principle, BRE installed two compressors matched to the separate tasks, which offered the security that the company is not totally dependent on a single unit.
The Beko Drypoint membrane dryers take compressed moist air and feed it through hollow fibre membranes, allowing water to diffuse to the outside.
Designed for varying demands typical of food processing, Drypoint adjusts to create stable humidity and drying rate in all seasons.
Ensuring a supply of high quality compressed air, the Bekomat removes and treats condensate throughout the system.
Unlike traditional compression installations, which required regular manual draining, the Bekomat provides a simple visual check with the facility to drain off condensate as required.
Beko Technologies' ?wamat removes traces of oil from condensate, usually around 1%, to meet the quality levels required for discharge to a watercourse by The Environment Agency.
