An innovative production management system that keeps track of orders and ensures client deadlines are met is described by a machine shops as being easy to use Specialising in automated production, Arterial UK manufactures high quality precision CNC machined components

The company has undergone rapid expansion since it was formed in 2003 by directors David Ross, Ian Lake and Colin Ross.

Based in Poole, Dorset, the company grew rapidly into today's 10,000ft2 operation.

The problem was that rapid company expansion outgrew its IT system, which was based on using spreadsheets for stock control and word documents to track orders..

Arterial UK offers a diverse portfolio of modern CNC turning and machining centres of varying capacity.

There is also a comprehensive manual section including turning, milling, drilling, slotting, broaching and power pressing.

The company wanted a system that was cost-effective and easy to use.

It considered various systems before following a one of its partners' recommendation of the ProgressPlus solution developed by Berkeley Myles.

Berkeley Myles told manufacturingtalk.com that it has extensive experience in designing and implementing manufacturing solutions, which help streamline, automate and integrate the management and control of shop-floor production and administrative processes.

The system has now been in place at Arterial UK for almost four years.

Sales and marketing director at Arterial UK, David Ross, believes it has been a key component in the company's drive to improve efficiency across its manufacturing processes.

He said: "After seeing it work in other manufacturing facilities similar to our own I believed it would offer an effective solution to the company's existing problems.

Ease of use is the first thing that strikes you about the system.

It is easy to navigate throughout different parts and is very user friendly".

He added: "For any company installing new systems, cost is always an issue but I believe ProgressPlus offers great value for money".

Ross said that ProgressPlus has been proven to be very effective in helping Arterial UK grow as a business.

He explained: "Key to securing new clients and contracts is demonstrating that you have a system that will stand-up to quality audits by potential clients.

An effective system ensures clients peace of mind that their order will be processed effectively and on time.

Ross reported: "We have had positive feedback since implementing Berkeley Myles's ProgressPlus system with most commenting on its responsiveness and the ability to navigate from one area of the system to the other".

Director of Berkeley Myles Solutions, Tony MacBride, insisted that ProgressPlus be perfectly 'tailored' to ensure that manufacturing companies have easy access to accurate data.

He said: "We have a number of clients in this sector and they have all seen the benefits from using our production control software.

We are happy to give a consultation to demonstrate how the ProgressPlus solution can bring large returns that far outweigh the cost of any change.".
