Bizerba (UK), a world leader in weighing, packaging and labelling systems has developed the first weigh labelling system with remote diagnostics capability.

Bizerba (UK), a world leader in weighing, packaging and labelling systems has developed the first weigh labelling system with remote diagnostics capability In short, the system contains a built-in web page generator that allows internet access for the analysis and correction of faults

Suitable for a wide variety of applications within the food industry, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, industrial suppliers and manufacturers, the Bizerba GLP Series delivers low maintenance combined with high quality.

It is user friendly with easy printing head replacement and quick and improved roller cleaning.

The Bizerba GLP weigh labelling systems are modular units comprising a Bizerba weight sensor, the Bizerba GT 240 control panel with alphanumeric membrane keyboard and Bizerba GLP printer which is available in two basic models, allowing printing width up to 80mm and 160mm respectively.

Both models offer direct thermal printing as standard with thermal-transfer available as an option.

Experience has taught Bizerba that when a problem occurs with a unit a cure is often to be found in fine-tuning the software which controls the machine.

The remote diagnostics facility of the GLP printer allows it to be accessed remotely from a personal computer, anywhere in the world, using a standard web-browser and a password.

Every GLP Printer will have it's own world-wide-web "Homepage" allowing the remote user to connect with a specific printer.

On connecting, the remote user sees an image of the display control panel on screen and can operate the device using click-on keyboard graphics.

The problem can be easily identified as a hardware or software issue and, if necessary, the GLP can be reconfigured via the internet.

The advantage to this is that in the event of a problem, down time is reduced and inconvenient waits for a service engineer visit are eliminated.

The Bizerba GLP can be used with a wide range of communication protocols including Ethernet TCP/IP, PROFIBUS, RS 485, RS 232 and RS 422.

When combined with Bizerba Label Designer (BLD) software, individual layouts and customised labels can be created.

Label design and layout is created on a PC which then sends the information to the GLP unit.

Optional accessories for the GLP printer include stainless-steel installation stands, display brackets for the GT 240, Label removal LED detector, cutting device, label reversal plate and liner-less paper facility.

An additional feature allows TrueType fonts to be used within label designs.

Michael Harris, Managing Director at Bizerba is enthusiastic about the series.

"The GLP Series is a generation of printers which we are sure will make inroads into new market sectors not only in the food industry but also in the industrial, logistical and non-food areas.

It has been designed to complement our other Bizerba equipment and to be an innovative alternative to conventional equipment".
