Krupp-Thyssen Hulle has awarded Blum Novotest an order for 500 mini LaserControl systems for checking tooling in production machining systems to be supplied to the Ford Motor Company.

Krupp-Thyssen Hulle, a German producer of machining centres and production machining systems, has awarded Blum Novotest an order for 500 mini LaserControl systems for use with production machining systems to be supplied to the Ford Motor Company LaserControl is used for tool measurment and tool breakage detection as well as process control

It can check each cutting edge of a tool in the work area.

The system minimises tool setting error and can monitor spindle drift through tool measurement.

Blum's LaserControl can be used with a wide variety of CNC systems, including GE Fanuc, heidenhein, Siemens Sinumerik, Mitsubishi, Fusion, Bostomatixc, Haas, NUM and Vickers.

President of the US Blum company, Blum LMT, Paul Meinhardt said: "The Blum LaserControl was selected for its superior reliability, accuracy and unfailing performance in the harsh environment of a machining centre." Factors contributing to the device1s success includes a pneumatically-operated shutter system with an air curtain to protect laser lenses agaisnt high pressure coolant during the machining cycle.

As well as the LaserControl system, Blum produces touch probes, mechanical tool setters and bore gauges.
