Bore gauge measures quickly and
automatically
Measuring position, cylindricality and concentricity quickly throughout the bore, bore gauge can be used on all machining centres and transfer lines.
Blum Novotest is introducing a new bore gauge, the BG40 The tiny new bore gauge has been completely redesigned and re-engineered using the company's extensive, proven experience in the field of measurement and takes advantage of recent developments in electronics and data transfer

Machine tool probes attract great MACH interest
Blum NovoTest reported that exhibiting at the recent UK MACH 2008 event brought 'remarkable' enquiry levels, including from users of multi-function, multi-axis machine tools.
Tool-setting system made for mill-turn centres
Laser-based, non-contact, tool setting system measures rotating tools as well as the mechanically measuring non-rotating tools in five approach directions.
Measuring position, cylindricality and concentricity throughout the bore, it is suitable for use on all machining centres and transfer lines, and provides the user with fast, accurate and automatic measurement of bores.
Data from the bore gauge is transferred automatically to the machine's controller and provides not only inspection data but also early warning of a component becoming out of tolerance.
The bore gauge replaces the need for post-process measuring systems, reducing equipment cost, set up and inspection time.

Probe offers multi direction measurement
A touch probe for turning centres and round work applications houses a measuring mechanism with face gear that significantly increases measurement accuracy when performing off-centre probing.
One system sets milling and turning tools
A non-contact tool setting system can set tool length and radius for milling and turning tools to meet the growing trend towards the use of mill-turn turning centres.
By measuring within the process in-accurate machining and lost time can be prevented.
It permits effective lights-out operation without the risk of scrap parts.
The new Blum bore gauge, which retains many of the features and capabilities of the previous model, is offered with an extensive range of measuring heads to provide the maximum versatility and practicality in use.
Much smaller than the previous model, the new bore gauge is easily stored in any machining centre tool magazine, whether of the chain or rack type.
Power supply is from a standard 9 volt battery which provides power for up to 150,000 measurements.
An emergency collision protection system is provided.
Communication with the tool is via infra red data transmission, so dispenses with the need for hard wiring.
It has bi-directional communication with the machine control, transmits compensation values and offering the capability of providing SPC data.
The bore heads are of specific diameter ranging from 3mm to 200mm.
The internal wear-free opto-electronic measuring system ensures the highest precision and reliability with a repeatability of 1micron It is designed for use in the medium and high volume production of parts and has a measuring range of +200 microns The standard system is available with a 2 point floating measuring system.
For diameters larger than 35mm up to 8 individual measuring elements are available to precisely measure position, cylindricality and concentricity at heights throughout the bore.
The new Blum bore gauge will be on display at EMO in Milan (October 21st to 28th), stand no A26 in Hall 14/11.
