Precision moulder cuts energy costs by
67%
A precision plastics moulding company reported that a Boge frequency controlled screw compressor has brought compressed air energy cost savings of 67%/year.
LH Plastics, a precision moulder and printer of engineering thermoplastics, enjoyed compressed air energy cost savings of 67% per annum after installing a Boge SLF40 frequency controlled screw compressor An interest free 'energy-efficiency' loan from The Carbon Trust financed this 'low carbon' compressor

Integral compressor/dryer reduces maintenance cost
A leading investment casting specialist has significantly increased quality, cut maintenance costs and boosted output by installing compressor/dryer to supply its foundry.
LH Plastics is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK, and produces a varied product range for the electrical engineering and domestic markets in a wide variety of thermoplastics.
Compressed air is used in the injection moulding machines, pad printing and hot foiling processes as well as driving robotic and manual paint spraying systems.
The production director at LH Plastics, Paul Cahill, had contacted lBoge Compressors to review the energy efficiency of the current compressed air system.
A comprehensive compressed air energy audit revealed that changes in compressed air demand coupled with the age of the compressor, meant the system was not performing to its optimum in terms of energy efficiency.
Boge recommended replacing the existing compressor with an SLF 40 to optimise energy efficiency and performance.
* Frequency control - the Boge SLF series combines a direct coupled drive system with frequency control for pressure control under variable outputs.
The SLF works strictly according to the compressed air demand by producing the exact volume of compressed air at the pressure required.
Frequency control minimises idling time and evens out air demand fluctuations, said Boge.
A Boge SLF40 was subsequently installed at LH Plastics.
LH Plastics purchased the Boge SLF40 with an interest free 'energy-efficiency' loan from The Carbon Trust.
These loans are intended for UK-based SME's intending to save energy by investing in energy efficient technologies to replace dated equipment. Request a free brochure from Boge Compressors ...
Cahill said: "We have been very satisfied with the performance of the Boge SLF 40 to date - not least because we have created a 67% cut in our compressed air energy costs per annum.".
