Modular system simplifies automation
design
Direct mounting interfaces that allow the integration of standard automation components allow automation engineers to build industrial automation systems quickly and easily.
Automation engineers can now design, manufacture and deploy industrial automation systems quickly and easily thanks to the introduction of Rexroth's 'Easy-to-Combine' modular pick and place system The secret to the system's ease of use is the direct mounting interfaces that allow the integration of standard automation components including slide units, grippers and rotary actuators with out the need for any additional brackets

Thermally deburred parts cleaned in one
Bosch Rexroth has developed a process for cleaning thermally-deburred components in one process operation, which isa djustable for different materials, and is environmentally friendly.
Tie rod cylinders offer 5x longer service life
Offering up to 5 times the normal service life, tie rod hydraulic cylinders have features designed to reduce maintenance costs and increase system or machine uptime.
Likewise, in the food industry, systems can be used to assemble food tins and drinks bottles into multi-packs.
The system caters for three distinct types of automation: precision pick-and-place; long-travel linear gantries; and multi axis area gantries.
Specifications for precision pick-and-place systems include: pneumatic X/Y axes; up to 2kg workpiece weight; 200mm maximum stroke length; and 0.02mm end position accuracy.
Using a piggyback configuration, two intermediate positions are possible.
Using a pneumatic Z-axis and pneumatic/electric Y-axis, linear gantry assemblies offer maximum strokes of 200 and 5500mm, respectively.
Repeatability is quoted at up to 0.01mm.
By opting for an electrically driven ballscrew or belt drive, gantries can be used as positioning systems with freely selectable intermediate stopping positions.
For applications requiring three-dimensional motion control, the 'Easy-to-Combine' area gantry configuration offers X, Y and Z-axis stroke ranges up to 5500, 1000 and 200mm, respectively.
Workpiece weight limit is 6kg.
Product Manager for 'Easy-to-Combine', Stuart Cheyne, said: "We believe this product range offers a significant advantage to original equipment manufacturers and end users alike by reducing pick and place system manufacturing time".
"It also offers distinct technical advantages compared with alternative solutions." Engineered to provide both linear and rotary motion based around a common interface, 'Easy-to-Combine' offers users the opportunity to design and manufacture complete handling systems from a single catalogue of integrated components.
This approach offers significant time and cost savings compared with the traditional method of sourcing individual components from different suppliers and then designing and manufacturing bespoke interfaces.
'Easy-to-Combine' is available immediately on three to five-day, ex-stock delivery from Bosch Rexroth's new multi-million-pound automated distribution centre.
