Preconfigured Cartesian motion system of linear components and drives offers a ready-to-install motion system that substantially reduces design, engineering and application effort.

With its preconfigured Cartesian Motion System (CMS), Bosch Rexroth offers industry a ready-to-install solution that substantially reduces design, engineering and application effort The system, comprising (one-, two- or three-axis) uses Bosch Rexroth's standard linear components and servo drives to provide reliability and design flexibility

Users can decide whether to order systems as modules or preassembled units.

In the machine manufacturing sector, the automation of product handling applications is one of the least standardised areas.

The market is dominated by special-purpose structures that are often designed, engineered, installed and programmed at high cost by machine builders or end users.

With the introduction of its Cartesian Motion System, Bosch Rexroth has simplified this automation process.

CMS specifications include up to 25kg payload, 1m/s maximum velocity and acceleration up to 15m/s2.

Depending on axis type and size, maximum strokes are 1000mm (X), 700mm (Y) and 800mm (Z).

CMS combines Compact Modules with mounting brackets, servomotors, controllers, cables and parts needed for ready-to-install handling systems.

The preconfigured assemblies are plug-and-play during installation, reducing commissioning and debug time.

Standard, matching and preconfigured axis systems dramatically reduce installation and start-up effort.

To save time during project engineering and design, Bosch Rexroth offers a 3D CAD solution.

Customers simply choose their ideal design and preferred file format, and a link appears for downloading a 3D drawing.

Thanks to design flexibility, CMS meets the specific application needs of industries including automotive, electronics, medical and food/packaging.

* Precision for maximum productivity - engineers at Bosch Rexroth's Schweinfurt, Germany, facility placed their emphasis on precision and service life when selecting components.

Compact Modules and accessories are proven as low-maintenance, high performance products.

The CKK Modules used in CMS robots comprise a compact precision extruded aluminium frame with aluminium cover and polyurethane-sealing strip.

Two integrated ball-rails, a precision ballscrew (with large screw diameters and leads) and double floating bearings provide long service life, fast travel and precision.

The centrally located ball screw drive (tolerance Class-7) reduces profile height, while its zero-clearance nut system guarantees accuracy to 0.01mm and repeatability to 0.005mm/axis.

To reduce maintenance, the ball rail systems and ball screw drive have a lubrication point on each side.

A fixed aluminium bearing end-block (with two-row pretensioned angular contact ball-bearings) and floating bearing end-block (with double ball-bearings) ensure backlash-free motion.

* Servo drives with field bus options - Bosch Rexroth's Ecodrive Cs servo drives (rated at 400 or 750W) power the Compact Modules.

Powered from 230V single- or three-phase supplies, the maintenance-free, highly dynamic motors are available in two frame sizes.

Power density and motor envelope (short length and small mounting dimensions) match to specification of mating Compact Modules.

IP65 allows application in demanding industrial environments.

To meet the engineering specifications of different automation technologies, command communication modules include SERCOS, Profibus, CANopen or DeviceNet.

Open interfaces and UL certification allows international application and use, backed by Bosch Rexroth's global presence and local support.

CMS robots can be equipped with their own motion or position control, allowing stand-alone use or integration in distributed systems.

* Ancillaries guarantee flexible use - thanks to component quality, CMS robots suit applications ranging from rugged production environments to electronics assembly clean rooms.

To complement the preconfigured assemblies, Bosch Rexroth also offers matching mechanical elements from its aluminium profile construction kit range.

These include modular safety enclosures for safe working environments.
