Cost-effective, ultra-compact unit is a fully-fledged controller-based CNC for managing up to eight axes in two NC channels and is intended for small machines, materials handling.

In presenting the ultra-compact IndraMotion MTX compact at the EMO, Rexroth showcases for the first time a fully-fledged controller-based CNC for up to eight axes in two NC channels This cost-effective solution for small CNC machines, network layers in multi-station transfer machines and handling modules is the drive and control system manufacturer's latest addition to the IndraMotion MTX range

The IndraMotion MTX compact follows the successful market launch of the PC-based IndraMotion MTX performance, which is currently the most dynamic CNC in the world.

The ultra-compact IndraMotion MTX compact for DIN rail mounting brings a new quality to the distribution of intelligence in machine tools.

Rexroth uses the sudden power variations of controller-based control hardware for economic automation of smaller CNC machines or machine modules.

Like all Rexroth control systems, the IndraMotion MTX compact opts consistently for open interfaces.

It communicates via Ethernet or commonly-used field buses such as Profibus and DeviceNet.

The control system has 16 fast inputs/outputs and plenty of capacity to integrate further I/O ports via the standardised Rexroth Inline system.

For real-time communication the compact CNC uses the world's only standardised drive interface, the SERCOS interface.

The IndraMotion MTX compact can control up to eight NC axes, including two spindles in two NC channels.

It can process up to 200 NC blocks/s.

Another feature of this control system for the user is the open PLC IndraLogic conforming to IEC 61131-3.

Rexroth offers scalable HMIs compatible with the control system, from touch screens right through to handheld HMIs.

All the necessary entries for programming, parameterisation and diagnosis can be input either via the higher-level control system, laptop or PC-based HMIs.

In the interests of simplicity Rexroth offers the modular engineering suite IndraWorks for start-up.

It is based on the modern.NET technology and also integrates third-party software modules without any problems, such as WIN STUDIO Lite Editor for interface design.

In IndraWorks Rexroth separates the infrastructure from the individual software tools.

As such, using IndraWorks simplifies the engineering in that, once written, the data are available to all the tools.

* Rexroth at the EMO - Bosch Rexroth, part of the Bosch Group, achieved sales of approximately EUR 4.1 billion in 2004 with 26,400 employees.

Under the brand name of Rexroth the company offers all relevant drive, control and motion technologies: from mechanics, hydraulics and pneumatics through to electronics and the associated services.

The global player is a competent partner to around 500,000 customers in over 80 countries and an extensive supplier of components and systems for industrial and factory automation and mobile applications.
