Motion logic system simplifies modular automation in open control architectures and combines real-time motion control for up to 16 axes with an open, IEC 61131-3 compliant PLC.

With the new controller-based IndraMotion MLC Motion Logic system, Rexroth is simplifying modular automation in open control architectures IndraMotion MLC combines a highly-developed real-time Motion Control for up to 16 axes with the open, IEC 61131-3 compliant IndraLogic PLC

The new controller offers consistently open interfaces and scalable versions of all components.

Standardised modules and preconfigured process functions simplify the execution of complex motion tasks while enabling significant reductions in hardware costs.

The intuitive IndraWorks engineering environment accelerates integration into modern machine concepts through transparent data storage and a modern .NET structure.

With the IndraMotion MLC, Rexroth is presenting yet another element in the open modular system and expanding the range of drive and PC-based Motion Control solutions by a further scaling stage.

At its core is a highly-developed motion kernel that synchronizes up to 16 axes in hard real time.

In addition to standard PLCopen components, the new controller comprises expanded Motion Control and technology functions such as print mark control, flying saw or cam group.

Several IndraMotion MLC can be easily networked together via Ethernet and a leading axis group.

The new controller can enhance the efficiency of machine modules at minimal hardware expense and significantly improve the productivity of the entire automated system, particularly in complex applications.

Innovative system architecture has enabled Rexroth to combine the Motion Control functionality with the IEC 61131-3 compliant IndraLogic open PLC system to form an efficient all-in-one solution.

The rapid sequence control system can handle up to 8 tasks in parallel and, with the IndraDrive range of drives, synchronizes all multi-axis applications in real time with a jitter of less than 1 microsec.

The open PLC is used consistently across all of Rexroth's automation solutions, enabling existing written programs or program sections to be reused in all controller variants.

The core hardware element of the new controller is the compact IndraControl L40 for tool less DIN-rail assembly.

This controller minimizes costs by combining the advantages of an embedded PC architecture with precision-scalable I/O systems.

In addition to 16 rapid inputs and outputs, the base module offers extensive standardized communication interfaces such as Ethernet, Profibus as master and slave, RS232 and SERCOS Interface.

This means that the controller is open to both the actuator level and the higher-level control system.

Additional modules expand the base module with further communication or technology interfaces.

A Compact Flash serves as the storage medium for firmware and user programs.

The device needs neither batteries nor fans.

Rexroth Inline offers a comprehensive range of products in protection class IP 20 for local and distributed I/O technology.

Rexroth keeps costs to a minimum by using multiwire connection technology and standing connections.

The Rexroth Fieldline in IP 67 for railless assembly simplifies handling thanks to M 12 connection technology and ready-made cables.

The IndraMotion MLC can be scaled in all hardware and software components.

The user decides on the precise performance that he requires for the particular automated system and can then select from the wide range of Rexroth's modular systems, from drives through various functionalities to visualisation.

When it comes to configuration, programming and parameterization, too, Rexroth cuts the costs for machine manufacturers through the IndraWorks engineering environment.

IndraWorks integrates all the necessary software tools for Rexroth automation solutions into one standard environment.

As a Microsoft Development Partner, Rexroth moved over to .NET technology from a very early stage.

This means that it now has an innovative software architecture that guarantees security of investment in the long term.

IndraWorks offers intuitive operation by combining all the tools required for the particular automation task in one standard and manageable software architecture.

Rexroth has thus enabled engineering data to be reused consistently.
