"What attracts me to Beach Solutions is that it has a strong following in major accounts.
Some of the largest semiconductor and systems firms are reporting project cost and development time savings through the adoption of their ESL synthesis tools.
With the additional funding we will expand our product offering to deliver tools that provide maximum concurrency of hardware and software design from ESL through to design implementation and on to system deployment".
Beach Solutions' EASI-Tools product family is proven to eliminate errors in design specifications early in the development process.
It also ensures that the concurrent design of hardware and software can proceed with confidence through the synthesis of design files from a common source.
The methodology behind EASI-Tools provides an infrastructure to capture complete system and IP specifications and to efficiently manage this data so it is visible, tracked, supported and deployed throughout the entire corporation.
Validation eliminates design errors in the early stages of development, preventing their propagation throughout the design process and allowing the costly verification stage to concentrate on detecting the real errors.
Generation automates the transformation of the data into forms relevant for the different design domains - hardware, software, verification and documentation - all guaranteed to be consistent.
Implementing this simple three-step process is independent of existing design architectures, tool flows and languages.
McCafferty continued: "All the indicators point to ESL being the fastest growing EDA market over the next few years.
Gartner predicts a compound growth rate of over 33% through to 2007.
Beach Solutions is uniquely positioned to take advantage of this growth as designers look for ways to effectively synthesize the design architecture to implementation process." McCafferty was previously CEO of LEDA Systems that he successfully sold to QualCore Logic whom he joined in 2000.
He brings over 20 years of EDA and Semiconductor experience and has worked in a variety of roles and as an investor in early-stage technology companies.
He began his career at Valid Logic, which merged with Cadence Design Systems in 1991.
He was an executive at Archer Systems, which was acquired by EPIC Design Systems, now part of Synopsys McCafferty was also an executive and investor in Ultima, which was acquired by Celestry, now part of Cadence and he founded Circuit Semantics McCafferty is also the founder and managing partner of Silicon Valley Investment Group (SVIG).
"We are delighted that Doug is joining Beach Solutions as President," said Tom Jarman, Chairman of the board of Beach Solutions.
"Doug brings with him a wealth of experience with young, energetic EDA companies that will be of enormous strategic benefit as we focus on the ESL market and expand our product offering and expand our sales infrastructure.".
