Air skates ease press forging tool handling
Three sets of four Hovair air skates are used to inflate and lift a 12,000kg tool train clear of the floor to easily move the forging tools under a 17.5MN forging press.
Manual turntable speeds up caravan assembly
Caravan builder has installed a manually operated 2.5m, 7.5 tonnes capacity turntable that will speed up production and, at the same time, save space.
Adding Jung equipment to the portfolio means that British Turntable can now offer customers the best handling solution, whether conventional wheeled, omni-directional air film, mechanical, manual or powered, depending on the load and site conditions.
Jung, with 30 years' experience in the development and manufacture of lifting and moving heavy loads, has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its products.
The standard product range includes hydraulic jacks and pumps as well as transport trolleys capable of moving loads up to 100 tonnes; the company also offers a specialist design service for custom-built units for individual projects.

Large CNC machine tool building recommences
The PTG Group has launched J and S Remanufacture to design and build large machine tools under the Crawford Swift and Binns and Berry as well as offering machine tool remanufacturing.
Among Jung customers in the UK are Pickfords Vanguard and Lupprians Computer Express (machinery movers), Magnex Scientific, GE Medical Systems and Oxford Magnet Technology (body scanner manufacturers), Heidelberg UK (printing machinery manufacturer), Panasonic, RWE Nukem (nuclear contractors) and several local authorities.
With the acquisition of the Hovair portfolio last year British Turntable augmented its expertise in air film technology, which is used widely in industry to provide materials handling solutions as an alternative to mechanical movement.
Specialist areas in the aerospace, nuclear fuels and automotive manufacturing industries are particularly attracted to the technology as, by forming a film of air between the load and the floor, the air cushion or bearing allows heavy loads to be moved easily and accurately, whether linear or multi-directional movement is required to aid the handling process.
The combined portfolio of Hovair, Jung and British Turntable's own product base, which includes materials handling carousels and transporters, high capacity revolves and transporters capable of moving a railway carriage, military tank or an aeroplane, as well as vehicle access and other heavy duty turntables, means that British Turntable engineers will now be able to advise on the most effective and cost-efficient means of moving equipment, no matter how awkward or heavy it may be.
British Turntable is accredited to BS EN ISO 9001: 2000.
