Birch Engineering (Cuffley) has been a regular supplier of scissor lift tables to SigmaKalon and to date has provided well over 100 tables for use at both the company's Birstall and Morley sites.
Both of these factories cater for the UK and Irish markets.
Tables have been supplied by Birch in a range of sizes for the purpose of helping to combat repetitive strain injuries and back problems amongst operators.
Each production line at the Birstall and Morley sites employ usually two lift tables mounted into shallow pits.
Empty pallets are loaded with products onto the tables at the end of the conveyor line and lowered to be removed by fork lift truck.
This simple process eradicates any need for the operator to twist or bend whilst loading product onto the pallet.
When closed the tables lie virtually flat to the ground.
Most commonly, the tables provided by Birch to SigmaKalon offer a capacity of 2000kg, a 1480mm x 1200mm platform and a closed height of 230mm.
Lift stroke is up to 900mm whilst lift time ranges from between 20 seconds to 26s and a 0.075kW motor supplies power.
Birch additionally supplies a technical back-up and spares service to ensure that SigmaKalon always hold a buffer stock of spares on site.
Scissor lift tables can be an obvious solution to lifting and handling problems on the production line and are often tailored by Birch to suit special handling requirements.
Whilst the company makes a speciality of providing solutions for bespoke projects, it also provides a range of 80 different models of scissor lift tables with load handling capacities running from 500kg to 20 tonnes.
Long-lasting efficiency, strength and safety are claimed by Birch to be a major feature of their range.
