Latest vision system

A Sencon product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jun 24, 2005

European launch of the latest vision system from Sencon.

Called the Label Verifier, it is a mixed can detector that prevents what are sometimes known as "rogue cans" left over from a previous batch from getting mixed in with the current production run.

It's possible to have cans lodged on conveyor dead-plates or in awkward points in the trackwork, only to reappear as the following batch of cans force the rogue can along the line.

Incidents of mixed or rogue cans - that mix up sugared with diet products for example - are increasingly considered a serious issue for many plants and their customers.

The Label Verifier's small footprint and self contained design means that it can be installed neatly on a single file conveyor either prior to the filler for incoming can inspection or at the end of the line, near to the fill check stations, where it is ideally placed to pick up mixed/rouge cans before they reach the multi-packers.

Capable of working at line speeds of 3000 cpm the Label Verifier can also distinguish inverted cans or major can damage, ensuring only cans in good condition reach the packing machines.

Sencon also claim that the system is easy to live with due to its simple push button, automatic learning functionality.

It is capable of very low false rejects, reducing unnecessary waste and maximising performance.

Sencon's low cost system is increasingly being taken up by both can makers and fillers around the world to protect against the escape of mixed cans.
