Drilling bowls for a good grip

Purpose built machines stretch canvas round frames
Bespoke Machines has manufactured a range of special picture assembly machines, purpose built to stretch canvas round picture frames facilitating the stapling of the two components
It consists of two automatic feed drilling units and a servo controlled indexing system.
The drilling units were specially modified to give accurate depth control because small variations in hole depth would result in unsightly imperfections in the appearance of the bowl.
The servo controlled indexing system was supplied by TRM in Southport.
This system utilises a simple sequencer programming language called MAP giving the customers the flexibility to experiment with different hole patterns.
The drilling units are each secured to the machine by three slides for X-, Y- and Z-axis control, which are needed for adjusting the drilling heads between batches of bowls balls.
Magnetic encoder strips were attached to each slide to give digital readouts.
This enables the setter to return to old settings much quicker than using trial and error methods.
