Brilliant and Tempest to futher develop carrier-class NTP and synchronisation solutions for service providers

Brilliant Telecommunications, a developer of ultra precise and reliable hardware-based Network Time Protocol (NTP) server technology, was selected as a Premier Partner under the Tempest Telecom Solutions partner program.

Tempest, a supplier of wireless, landline and networking infrastructure equipment, serves world-class providers, such as ATandT, British Telecom, COX Communications, and Verizon Wireless.

Together Brilliant and Tempest will develop carrier-class NTP and synchronisation solutions to support service providers, while introducing flexible IP applications into their existing legacy networks and migrating them into next-generation networks.

"Brilliant Telecommunications has demonstrated responsiveness and an ability to deliver a standards-based solution that addresses the critical timing and synchronisation requirements in legacy and next-generation networks," said Jessica Firestone, President and CEO of Tempest.

"As two strong players providing clearly differentiated solutions to the service-provider market place, this relationship clearly underscores our commitment to bringing in new partners under the Tempest umbrella, who will offer the best-of-breed products to our target markets".

As the transition from T1/E1 leased lines to Ethernet services evolves to accommodate high-bandwidth applications, essential timing information is lost.

Brilliant Telecommunications has developed a network timing solution that provides carrier-class timing and synchronisation over network layers one (Ll) through layer four (L4) in a seamless and cost-effective manner.

Additionally, Brilliant provides hardware-based, wirespeed NTP and pre-standard IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) processing capability.

"With service providers seeking to deliver IP-based solutions while retaining the same level of Quality of Experience (QoE) that are received over TDM networks, interest in next-generation timing solutions is stronger than ever," said Dr Charles Barry, CEO of Brilliant.

"We focus on the development of quality products that meet stringent carrier-class requirements while delivering a competitive edge".

"I am proud to receive this validation from Tempest as a premier partner and am excited to build value-added solutions together".
