Earmuffs filter noice but let voices through

Bilsom is announcing a new and improved version of its popular Clarity line of earmuffs.
The new line features patented 'uniform attenuation' technology that filters out harmful noise while allowing users to hear warnings, alarms, and co-workers' voices, even in loud industrial environments.
Other improvements include advanced comfort features that promote wearability, and multiple noise attenuation levels, which allow users to choose the right amount of protection for their application.
"A common complaint among workers is that they cannot hear each other in noisy environments," says Bill Sokol, VP strategic marketing for the Bacou-Dalloz Hearing Safety Group.
"This makes them feel more isolated and poses obvious safety risks.
"Workers who have used this new technology report improvements in their ability to talk and listen to each other even in the most aggressive noise environments.
"As a result, many claim to feel happier on the job and more connected to fellow workers".
Clarity earmuffs' sophisticated sound management capability is based on patented design and material technology, and does not rely on sophisticated and expensive electronics.
The earmuffs block sound uniformly across a series of octave bands, effectively reducing overall noise exposure while allowing human voice frequencies to pass through more easily.
In addition, resulting sounds are more natural and less distorted.
Each of the three models in the Clarity line provides a different level of hearing protection - 20, 23 and 27 NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) - allowing users to choose the right level of protection for their application.
This improves safety in environments where overprotection is dangerous, and allows companies to pay only for the protection they need.
Clarity C1 and C3 sound management earmuffs include a dual headband design with a soft, ventilated inner surface to prevent the build-up of heat and perspiration, while an adjustable, Quick-Click outer headband ensures a comfortable fit and minimises slippage.
The Clarity C2 model offers an innovative multiple position headband which allows the earmuff to be worn with helmets, respirators, shields and other equipment.
All Clarity models employ an exclusive dielectric design that protects against shock in environments where electrical equipment is used.
They feature softer ear cushions that promote increased comfort and create a better seal around the ear.
The ear cushions' snap-in design allows easy replacement, extending the life of the earmuff.
The new Clarity earmuff emerged from a flurry of research and development activity following the consolidation of the Bilsom and Howard Leight product lines under the Bacou-Dalloz Hearing Safety Group.
As a result of the consolidation, Bilsom has focused on product development and marketing for earmuffs while Howard Leight has assumed responsibility for earplugs.
The new Bilsom product line, which offers the industry's broadest range of protection and sound management choices, has been organised into four major categories: noise blocking, sound management, radio, and communication.
