At MACH 2004, a workholding specialist will be demonstrating its ability to provide work and toolholding systems suited to the future production requirements of its customers.

At MACH 2004, Craftsman Tools will be demonstrating its ability to provide work and toolholding systems suited to the future production requirements of its customers Renowned for its exceptional research and design capability, the company offers a comprehensive range of systems designed to combine productivity with cost effectiveness

The range includes the pioneering prismatic workholding systems, the Crafticube, as well as special purpose fixtures, a full range of workholding systems for turning, including rotating centres, expanding mandrels and collet chucks and special chuck jaws.

Coromant Capto holders for a large number of machines are also available.

All the Craftsman systems are designed and manufactured at the company's plant in Otley, West Yorkshire.

"The task before us" said managing director Robert Johnson "is to develop standard products and specials that suit the foreseeable market requirement.

As machines become more and more sophisticated, performing more and more operations in one hit and at greater speed and feed rates, so the workholding device becomes ever more critical within those operations.

We support a substantial design department which concentrates on that, in order that our customers can source cost-effective tool and work holding systems appropriate to the production demand.

At MACH we will be demonstrating that we can provide systems which not only meet the production requirement, but do so at a cost which can be justified.

In addition we will of course be showing our ability to design and manufacture special tool and workholding systems in partnership with both machine tool companies and end users".

One of the most recent introductions by the company is the extended range of Capto holders, developed as a result of the Smart Grant Craftsman received earlier this year from the DTI.

This will enable users of a wider range of machines to take advantage of the benefits of the Sandvik Coromant Capto tooling system.
