Filter medium offers highest flow rates
The Zorflex HF filter medium, offering the highest flow rates to date for any activated carbon cloth medium, has been launched by Charcoal Cloth International.
A high-performance filter medium, Zorflex HF, offering the highest flow rates to date for any activated carbon cloth medium, has been launched by Charcoal Cloth International, providers of activated carbon cloth products and a subsidiary of Chemviron Carbon Designed for use in dynamic filtration, adsorption and separation processes, new Zorflex HF filter media combine high-purity filtration and fast adsorption capacity with lower reduction of air or fluid pressure (pressure drop) and resultant higher flow rates

Before the launch of Zorflex HF filter media, activated carbon cloths were considered too restrictive in dynamic airflow applications, as air pressure dropped sharply when passed through the cloth.
Re-usable and offering a long service life, activated carbon cloth is easily regenerated by passing a direct electrical current through the fabric to remove deposits.
CCi's marketing manager, Mark Oberholzer, said, "With the new Zorflex HF filter media, we're delighted to bring the higher filtration performance and faster adsorption benefits of Zorflex activated carbon cloth into areas demanding higher flow rates and lower pressure drop." CCi can modify Zorflex cloths according to customers' needs, with various weaves and widths that can be cut, slit and laminated to a range of textiles to be made into products including bag, pleated or disc filters.
Zorflex HF is available in two grades - a standard version, Zorflex HF10, and Zorflex HF70 for even higher adsorption capacity.
Both offer faster flow rates than comparable products on the market.
As with all CCi products, the new cloths are produced in a continuous process for improved consistency of quality and performance over the full length and breadth of the material, overcoming the quality variation seen in some batch-manufactured products on the market.

Activated carbon cloth was originally developed by the British Ministry of Defence for use in nuclear, biological and chemical protection suits and masks, and has since been used in sectors including air and water treatment, food and beverage processing, industrial processes and medical applications for removing unwanted materials, toxins and chemicals.
