The sale of 10 machines by Cincinnati Machine at the recent UK MACH 2006 show to new and existing customers was encouragingly supported by an excellent enquiry rate, said the company.

At MACH 2006 the successful world launch of the new range of Blue Technologies solutions from Cincinnati Machine noted 10 machine sales from the stand The new range of machine tools that appeared on the stand are capable of delivering extensive machining capabilities for a wide range of industries

The company exhibited six high technology products suitable for the aerospace, automotive, medical, mould and die and general machining industries.

It was this demonstration of vertical and horizontal machining and turning applications for a wide range of industries that contributed to the exceptional success at MACH.

The sale of 10 machines to new and existing customers was encouragingly supported by an excellent enquiry rate with a high number of companies interested in the higher end products - particularly the FTV range.

Discussing the success at MACH, David Carter, UK sales manager of Cincinnati Machine Limited said: "We have been exhibiting at MACH for many years and 2006 was one of the best.

It gave us the perfect opportunity to catch up with our customers as well as meeting new buyers.

As a Birmingham-based company it was also fantastic to have the opportunity to appear on the local Midlands news to raise the profile of Cincinnati, our local production facility and our industry as a whole." To accompany the success at MACH 2006, Cincinnati Machine has also recently sold an FTV5C-3700 7-axis with Siemens 840D control to Beaufort Engineering, a subsidiary of BBA Aviation and a premier aerospace sub-contractor.

The machine incorporates a 1m diameter C-axis horizontal faceplate rotary table and a 500mm diameter A-axis vertical faceplate rotary table with trunnion and support unit to enable the company to manufacture a range of complex components for aerospace applications.

The company also sold an FTV5-3700 to AIM Engineering, another aerospace sub-contractor with a prestigious customer base that includes Airbus.

The machines on show at MACH included the following.

* FTV5-1800 5-axis fixed table vertical machining centre - the new FTV5 range made its UK-debut at MACH 2006.

Based on the Fixed Table (FTV) machining centre with a travelling column, the FTV5-1800 incorporates a 5-axis spindle head for full 5-sided machining, with a 1.8m machining range in the X-axis for long part or multiple set-up machining.

The FTV5 range is available in three X-axis designations up to 3700mm, making it the ideal choice for aerospace, precision machining and die and mould applications.

The FTV5 with its integral HSK-63A spindle was presented at MACH with the Heidenhain iTNC 530 CNC control and it demonstrated its machining capability on a variety of materials from aluminium to hard steels, in 3-, 4- and full, simultaneous 5-axis modes.

The fixed table and extensive working envelope with Y-axis range up to 1005mm can incorporate heavy loads up to 10,000kg, ideal for machining heavy dies and large aerospace parts.

* CFV5 5-axis vertical machining centre - another UK debutant was the CFV5.

It incorporates a dedicated table solution bringing full 5-axis, 5-sided large capacity machining capability to the popular range of tried and tested CFV vertical machining centres.

The CFV5 with 5-axis integrated rotary table technology comfortably machines workpieces up to 400mm in diameter and 300mm high, and has up to 150 deg tilt capability.

Features well received at the exhibition.

A choice of state-of-the-art leading CNC control systems is available to provide both positioning and simultaneous 5-axis machining capability.

* VMC-4020 high productivity vertical machining centre - the latest addition into the comprehensive range of vertical machining centres - the VMC-4020 has high-rigidity box ways making it a true workhorse for high production machining.

The VMC range is supplied as standard with a highly-specified GE Fanuc 18i-MB5 CNC.

A choice of X-axis ranges and spindle powers are available throughout the full VMC range to meet both capacity and performance requirements.

* Bluestar 5 horizontal machining centre - the Bluestar 5 horizontal machining centre demonstrated high-value horizontal machining solutions at low capital outlay.

With its single piece rigid cast machine bed, the Bluestar range provides high machining accuracy and repeatability, all in a space saving compact footprint.

Its large working envelope, pallet changer and choice of pallet size ensures full flexibility of machined parts.

The Bluestar 5 shown at MACH had a GE Fanuc 21i-MB control with a versatile 40 series 10,000 rev/min spindle and 500mm x 500mm pallets.

* Blueturn 250 vertical turning centre - the Blueturn 250 vertical turning centre highlighted its high-productivity vertical turning capabilities.

Available in two models, the Blueturn range with its high standard specification and ergonomic set-up has been designed with both productivity and the operator in mind.

Short tool-change times, a fast spindle and a large capacity of workpieces up to 30kg in weight and up to 450mm in diameter help to turn more parts, more quickly.

Large viewing windows and doors ensure optimum visibility and access to the extensive working area.

* HTC-150M horizontal turning centre - another highly popular machine at MACH was the HTC-150M.

With versatile mill/turn capability, the HTC-150M has 12 driven tool positions, 5,500 rev/min spindle and 51mm bar capacity that proves large part turning can be achieved in a compact footprint.
