CES introduces Shapenest CAD/CAM software tool

A CES product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jul 10, 2009

Yorkshire-based CES, a creative software company, has developed a nesting system specially designed to cater for the profiling industry.

Shapenest is a functional computer-aided-design (CAD)/computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) software tool that is said to be easy to install and maintain.

It reads DXF files from other CAD systems and has a CAD tool designed purely for the geometry of 2D profiles.

Pick and placed, repeat, rotate and mirror make nests in an instant, according to the company.

Cutting parameters are automatically recalled from a library based on material types and thicknesses.

There is an automatic DNC utility so that the shop floor can call down a CNC program.

Supplied with a tutorial manual, a new user can follow instructions on how to use the system, learning without the need to attend a training course.

CES has included functionality to cater for a variety of cutting methods, all designed to make it quick and easy to prepare a program to keep the profiler cutting.

The single-user version installs itself and Shapenest comes ready to use in Burny format.
