AVEVA IT (India Private Limited), the Indian Engineering IT operation of AVEVA Group plc (LSE:AVV) is celebrating its biggest single order since it was established in 2001.

The order, for US$432,600, has been placed by Engineers India Limited (EIL) - a leading provider of engineering systems in New Delhi - to support the company as it continues to successfully diversify into new sectors.

The contract will deliver a number of engineering IT solutions from AVEVA's extensive portfolio of engineering applications.

The solutions will deliver safe project collaboration across the globe and offer state of the art design capabilities to many design disciplines.

Additionally, EIL have invested in AVEVA's revolutionary 'Global' solution for safe, managed, worldwide project work distribution.

Ram Ramachandran, head of operations for AVEVA in India commented: "India is predicted to become the world's fourth-biggest economy within the next 10 years.

Expanding and visionary companies such as EIL help to drive that growth and are set to make the best of global work distribution from the international process and power plant industry.

This contract highlights how AVEVA can help engineering enterprises to realise business benefits through technology investments.

EIL was established in 1965 to provide engineering and related technical services for petroleum refineries and other industrial projects.

The company is diversifying into several new areas including, ports and terminals, power projects, renewable/alternative energy sources, IT, water and urban development projects.

India is one of the world's fastest growing economies, with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) noting a rise of 6.4% in the manufacturing sector in late 2003.

The growing trend for outsourcing India's skilled workforce to worldwide interests created over 10,000 jobs in the region last year.
