Wide range of CNC machines will suit all tastes
High speed lathes, as well as vertical and horizontal machining centres, to suit all tastes, will be exhibited at Mach 2002 by C Dugard.
The efficiency of the Olympic Seiki lies in its patented innovative design and Eric Dugard (Managing Director of C Dugard), says "The new machine undoubtedly offers unrivalled price/performance! We had an amazing response to the machine during MACH 2002.
It was certainly a crowd-puller - everybody seemed to want to know more about the machines and to see them in action." Hsi Kuan Chen (Designer of the Olympic Seiki machines) had come over from Taiwan especially for the MACH show.
He was very happy to answer questions about the machine's unique design and performance - and was delighted to demonstrate the machine's phenomenal capabilities.

Double-acting ballscrew cuts machine downtime
Very fast-moving mill-tap centres, zippy machining centres and a very nippy pick-up spindle vertical turning lathe are the results of applying a double-acting ballscrew axis drive.
Hard materials ground and sliced accurately
Ceramic? Silicon? Quartz? Glass? Tungsten? - whatever the hard or brittle material, slicing and surface grinding and vertical profile grinding machines perform consistently and accurately.
Eric Dugard explained, "MACH was a very important show for us - and Mr Chen's presence enabled our potential customers to talk directly to the genius who had created this incredible machine.
We were delighted that he was able to join us on the stand and meet so many UK engineers.
During the show we met many valued customers (existing clients and potential contacts).
The stand was very busy - people wanted to know about all our machines - and there was a great deal on interest in our Dugard Eagle Mini Mill (which is impressively compact, high-speed and affordable)." "We are delighted that the Olympic Seiki and the Mini Mill are generating such an enormous amount of interest.
The first day of the MACH show was busy - but the number of visitors on the next three days exceeded our wildest expectations! We knew that the Olympic Seiki and our Eagle range would generate a lot of interest - but we hadn't expected such a fantastic response.
Thankfully, we were very well organised back at our head office and we were able to respond very quickly to requests for quotes and installation details." Eric added, "Many of the visitors to our stand were extremely pleased to receive our CD-ROM catalogue of products.
This is a recent innovation for Dugard and it was very well received.
While our website already provides up-to-date details on our product ranges, services and financial packages, many visitors preferred to take away our CD-ROM in order to browse through our ranges (off-line) at their leisure.
They were also able to preview the CD on the stand before accepting it.
In fact, our CD-player screen was constantly in use throughout the show.
Our customers appreciate having access to so much technical information at the click of a mouse.
We continually aim to make it as easy as possible for our customers to access the information they need - and it was gratifying to see that our CD-ROM catalogue was in such great demand throughout the MACH show!" There was so much to see - C Dugard distribute Eagle turning and machining centres throughout Europe and were showing the range of Eagle CNC Vertical Machining Centres at MACH 2002.
The range extends from the Mini-Mill, which has an 'X' axis of 510mm, through to the Kwik-Mill, Eagle 1000, 1300 and Eagle 1600.
A full selection of Control Systems (including Fanuc, Siemens, Acramatic and Heidenhain) are available to suit the customers' specific requirements.
The Mini-Mill is priced at GBP 25,500.
The Eagle 1000 Vertical with the Fanuc control is priced at GBP 35,000.
Hyundai Machine Tools, were also on show at the Dugard stand.
Hyundai Machine Tools manufacture a wide range of machine tools including: high speed CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal machining centres together with high speed drilling and tapping machines that are used extensively in Hyundai's own automotive manufacturing facilities.
Dugard also exhibited the newly announced, Hi-Tech Package for vertical and horizontal machining centres from Quaser Machine Tools.
The package offers 350Nm of torque and spindle acceleration of 0 to 15,000 rpm in 5 seconds.
The Quaser range comprises vertical machining centres with and without pallet changers, twin pallet horizontal machining centres and a range of travelling column vertical machining centres.
At MACH 2002, C Dugard - also launched the first of a new range of slant bed lathes.
The new machines will be manufactured by a recently-formed company (Focus Machine Tools) which has been developed as a joint venture between Dugard and a major Taiwanese Machine Tool builder.
Full order book - Dugard's Chairman, Bob Dugard commented, "Despite difficult trading conditions the Directors felt this very substantial investment was necessary to provide the right products to maximise our market share when there is an upturn in the engineering industry." Focus have already achieved a full order book for the next four months due to orders already received from China, USA and, of course, the UK (via Dugard).
The new machine exhibited at MACH 2002 was the Eagle 200 which is an 8in-chuck, full-45-degree-slant machine with 30m/min rapids.
It is being offered at the very competitive price of GBP 33,500 and is available with a choice of Fanuc or Siemens controls.
With more than 20 years of experience in selling CNC lathes, Dugard has used this knowledge to put all the very best features into the design of this exciting new range of machines.
The Eagle 200 will be followed by other models giving a full range of sizes from 6in-15in with numerous options including: C axis, Mill/drill turret, Parts catcher and Sub spindle etc.
Dugard will have exclusive rights to market these new machines throughout Europe using their existing network of Eagle Dealers.
The Taiwanese partner-company will have the exclusivity for the USA, mainland China and other Asian countries.
Flexible engineering finance options - generated great interest at MACH - Dugard Finance (part of C Dugard Machine Tools) offers a range of flexible financial services to support their engineering customers.
Bob Bicknell - who started Dugard Finance and still manages the operation - says, "Dugard Finance was introduced 10 years ago with the objectives of achieving finance solutions that can be adapted to the specific needs of Dugard customers, rather than just offering a list of standard finance products.
Customers certainly seem to appreciate this service: to date Dugard Finance has organised over GBP 80 million of machine tool funding!" With over 60 years of providing engineering equipment, Dugard have been able to draw on their vast experience and knowledge of the whole machine tool market to introduce a number of innovative concepts for finance agreements.
In particular, Dugard Finance have been particularly influential in developing finance packages for new engineering businesses and in pioneering a genuine five year warranty scheme for their machines which has already been adopted by more than 500 engineering customers.
Bob Bicknell has maintained the principle of making access to finance as simple as possible.
Dugard Finance attempts to keep the small print and conditions to the minimum while maintaining very competitive and unique financing options.
Dugard Finance has built close partnerships with a number of reputable, specialist lenders who support the Dugard Finance packages - so Dugard customers can feel confident that their finance scheme meets the needs of their business perfectly.
Meeting the needs of the industry today - Eric Dugard, son of the late founding Chairman and now the current Managing Director, says, "Since my father's day we have experienced massive changes in the industry.
However the fundamental philosophy of the company has remained the same, that is: to make the buying process as painless as possible for our customers." "Cost is the major issue in today's industry," says Eric.
"Our customers need accuracy, reliability, performance and high productivity - but at the right price.
To enable them to achieve this we offer a range of rental schemes and finance packages to help them spread their investment over a period of time plus part exchange which allows a "one-stop shop" facility.
We also provide full installation, support and maintenance packages - plus extended warranties - so that our customers can choose the option that suits them.
Flexibility is the key word in order to meet the ever evolving needs of our customers." "As our customers' requirements become more and more sophisticated, Dugard offers them the very latest in technology (both in the machines themselves and in the control systems) to help them stay at the forefront of today's industry.
At the same time, we maintain this policy of providing affordable quality and performance." Affordability - Eric Dugard went on to explain, "At Dugard we specialise in offering a wide range of affordable turning and machining centres however, there is no compromise on quality or performance.
