Powerful mill-turn centre can machine
off-centre
Mill-turn centre can perform heavy duty cycles including off-centre machining owing to the rigidity of its 12-station turret arrangement, which has +55mm Y-axis travel and rapid traverse of 10m/min.
A Dugard Eagle mill-turn centre has the specification to perform heavy duty cycles including off-centre machining owing to the rigidity of its 12-station turret, which also has +55mm Y-axis travel and rapid traverse of 10m/min In addition, this machine has the added flexibility of a programmable tailstock with through coolant feed that is capable of heavy duty drilling cycles

Wide range of CNC machines will suit all tastes
High speed lathes, as well as vertical and horizontal machining centres, to suit all tastes, will be exhibited at Mach 2002 by C Dugard.
The Dugard Eagle NL 200Y is a heavy duty 30 deg slant bed lathe from C Dugard of Hove, UK, that uses high specification sealed Rexroth roller-type linear guideways designed to be environmentally friendly and eliminates a source of contamination to machine coolant.
The guideways carry the turret slide to achieve a maximum cutting diameter of 350mm by 558mm cutting length.
Swing over bed is 600mm diameter, bar capacity is 65mm diameter and chuck size is 210mm with a larger 254mm option.
The spindle bore is 77mm diameter and the programmable tailstock, which has 850mm rapid travel at 7m/min for higher speed positioning, has digital thrust force control that is able to be pre-set.
Unusually, the servo-controlled tailstock, with a 20 bar 200 litre/min coolant feed, is also capable of heavy duty drilling cycles totally independent of the turret.
Control is via Fanuc 18i-TB with conversational editing and 3D simulation.
The spindle is powered by a 15kW drive having a maximum speed of 4,500 rev/min and a high torque drives for both C-axis and Y-axis to accommodate heavy duty face and helical milling.
The driven tool turret will accept BMT60 heavy duty driven tools up to 20mm diameter with a maximum speed of 4,000 rev/min.
* Heavy metal removal rates - C Dugard gave manufacturingtalk.com an example of the machine's high metal removal rate capability.
The NL 200Y machine can machine off 24cm3/min when radial milling steel at 400 rev/min and 120m/min feed using a 20mm, four tooth cutter with 10mm depth of cut.
When drilling steel with a 20mm drill at 577 rev/min and 100mm/min feed it enables material to be removed at up to 32cm3/min.
