Bullying at work is widespread in the manufacturing sector and a report shows how UK businesses can act to prevent bullying from affecting morale and performance.

Research published by the Chartered Management Institute shows that bullying at work is widespread in the manufacturing sector The report reveals that it takes many forms - most psychological in nature - and affects executives across all levels

Launched today at a conference at the University of Portsmouth, the report also calls on UK businesses to act before bullying affects morale and performance and provides a guide for organisations to follow.

Key findings include the following.

* One third of directors admit to being bullied.

* Six in ten believe that bullying has increased over the last three years.

* Top reasons for bullying were cited as a lack of management skills, personality clashes and the failure to deal with bullies in the past.
